The capital of Western Pomerania has been an important economic centre for centuries. Szczecin is attractive due to its rich tourist offer, location and well-developed infrastructure.

The city is close to the Baltic Sea, Berlin and the Scandinavian countries. Convenient access is provided by the A6 motorway and the S3, S6 and S10 expressways. Air connections to Warsaw, Krakow, Great Britain, Ireland and the Scandinavian countries are offered by the Szczecin-Goleniów Airport, and the proximity of the German airport of Berlin-Brandenburg provides unlimited travel opportunities. Rail access to the city is provided by an extensive network of regional connections, served by the most modern rolling stock in Poland, while intercity IC and EIC services connect Szczecin with other major cities.

Szczecin has been attracting big business for years. Thanks to the city's location the largest international companies are building their logistics centres here. IT start-ups are developing in Technopark Pomerania, and more companies are locating their headquarters in modern office spaces. The cultural offer, as well as the growing range of conference and hotel facilities, makes Szczecin a city that hosts world-class conferences.

In recent years, Szczecin has seen the construction of venues such as the Courtyard by Marriott 4*, the Moxy hotel, the Dana hotel, the Hanza Tower Conference Centre, the Summer Theatre, the Maritime Science Centre and the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, which has been awarded the European Union's most important architecture prize, Mies van der Rohe. The new Polish Theatre building, the conference space in the Old Printing House and the Water Factory, among others, are under construction.
