Żagle 2023

Sails up, course set for Szczecin. The biggest nautical festival in the region, which gives us a chance to admire marvellous sailing ships on both sides of the Oder, is ahead of us.

18-20th August - save this date in your calendars today. Żagle is a wonderful family event with a marine atmosphere, sea attractions, and the most beautiful sailing ships. This year, vessels from Poland, Germany, Finland and the Netherlands will set their course for Szczecin. Szczecin's hospitality will be enjoyed by training vessels, old-timers, military ships and private yachts, which will dock in the city's marina.

Who can we expect to see? One of the vessels will be ORP Iskra - a navy school barquentine, which was the first vessel under the Polish flag to sail around the world. After sailing through the cold North Sea, the Morgenster will dock at the feet of the embankment. This Dutch sailing ship, with a white figurehead of a mermaid holding the head of a galloping horse, will impress the citizens and tourists not only with its appearance but also with its history. Our Polish vessel Baltic Beauty will also present us with its rich history. One cannot also remain indifferent to the oldest vessel that will visit this year’s Żagle. The German Ernestine was built in 1899. It can fit 24 people on board at once.

During Żagle, together with Nawigator XXI, we will be celebrating its 25th anniversary. The research and training vessel owned by the Maritime University is well known by the citizens and students of the university. They use the vessel to learn how to navigate, how to operate the gear and the engine room, and how to live on the ship - exactly what awaits them in the future.

This is just a preview of what we can expect. In August, both Nabrzeże Starówka (Old Town Quay) and Wały Chrobrego (Chrobry Embankment) will be filled to the brim with attractions. During the event, the citizens and tourists will have an opportunity not only to see the vessels, but also to sail on them. At the beginning of August, ticket sales for cruises aboard our vessels will be launched.
