The „TOMASZ” Neon Shines Again on Rayskiego Street

It’s a flashback to the 1970s – the neon sign “TOMASZ,” once the banner of a men’s clothing store, is glowing once again on Rayskiego Street in Szczecin. Carefully restored, it now stands as a charming reminder of the city’s urban history.
First rediscovered in 2023 during façade renovation plans, only the fragment “ASZ” was initially visible. That was enough to trigger a restoration effort. Thanks to the initiative of Buenas Cafe, Szczecin’s Social Housing Association (TBS), and under the supervision of the City Conservator of Monuments, the sign has been brought back to life with its original blue outline and white letters.
While façade works continued, the neon was safely kept in a restoration studio. Now it's back, lighting up the street and memories alike. The project cost 41,000 PLN, funded by TBS, and executed by KOWALSKI – a company specializing in illuminated signage.
