8th Economics School Complex

The original plan was to construct an armoury here, but instead an impressive officer’s mess and infantry barracks designed by Paul Fingerling were built in 1872. The round-arch-style facade is in yellow brick, while the richly-decorated inner auditorium features a tray ceiling. After the First World War the building housed the Financial Office, and after the Second World War was taken over by the communist Public Security Office for torture and interrogation purposes. The 8th Economics School Complex has been using the building since 1974.
