Lower Oder Valley Landscape Park

The Lower Oder Valley Landscape Park is a unique natural reserve located in the Oder River valley, encompassing the largest fluvial lowland bog in Western and Central Europe. This area is home to a diverse range of plant and animal species that are no longer found in other major river valleys.
The park is intersected by a network of oxbow lakes, ditches, and canals, with a total length exceeding 200 km. The Międzyodrze region, situated between the Western Oder and the Regalica, varies in width from approximately 2 km in the southern part to up to 12 km near Szczecin. The southern section of the Oder Valley, located on the German side south of Widuchowa, is also protected as the Lower Oder Valley National Park.
The park serves as a historical record of past hydrotechnical projects. During the interwar period, attempts were made to convert the area for agricultural use. The hydrotechnical structures built at that time were no longer used after World War II and remain as historical and cultural landmarks of the region.
The Oder Valley is also an important resting place for migratory birds traveling south each year. The park offers numerous observation points for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.
