Ever wondered what a brand-new passenger ferry looks like inside? This November, visitors to Szczecin will have a rare opportunity to find out. The modern Polish ferry Bursztyn Unity is coming to the city's famous Chrobry Embankment (Wały Chrobrego), where it will be officially christened before opening to the public for three days, from 12 to 14 November 2026.

The Bursztyn Unity is expected to arrive in Szczecin on 9 November, with its official christening ceremony scheduled for 11 November at 11:00 am. Remarkably, this will be the city's second ferry christening of the year. In January, Szczecin hosted the ceremony for its sister ship, Jantar Unity. Both vessels were built at the Remontowa Shipyard in Gdańsk. Measuring almost 196 metres in length, Bursztyn Unity can accommodate approximately 400 passengers and features a modern hybrid propulsion system combining liquefied natural gas (LNG) and batteries.

Visitors will have three days to explore the ferry. On Thursday, 12 November, guided visits will take place between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm, while on Friday, 13 November, the ferry will be accessible from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Advance online booking is required for both days. On Saturday, 14 November, an open day will be held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with no advance registration necessary. Visitors can simply join the queue.

Admission is free, but places are limited. Online registration opens on 3 November at 12:00 noon Polish time at www.accredi.pl/bursztyn. Each booking can include up to four participants. Tours will be organised in groups accompanied by guides familiar with the vessel and its facilities.

The ferry's visit is also a great reason to plan an autumn city break in Szczecin. Take a walk along the impressive Chrobry Embankment, enjoy views of the Oder River and discover the city's maritime heritage. Visitors should be aware of temporary traffic restrictions near the waterfront and consider using public transport.

Following its visit to Szczecin, Bursztyn Unity is expected to begin regular ferry services between Świnoujście in Poland and Ystad in Sweden. For maritime enthusiasts and curious travellers alike, this is a rare opportunity to explore a new ferry before it enters regular service.
