Bursztyn Unity in Szczecin: Ferry Tours and Naming Ceremony
29.10.2026
The new Polish ferry Bursztyn Unity has arrived in Western Pomerania. Following a stop in Świnoujście, the vessel is expected to reach Szczecin on 9 November 2026 at approximately 12:00 noon. It will dock at the foot of the iconic Wały Chrobrego waterfront promenade and remain in the city until 15 November. The visit promises to be one of Szczecin's most interesting maritime events this autumn.
The highlight of the visit will take place on 11 November at 11:00 am, when Bursztyn Unity will be officially christened during a special ceremony held on Poland's Independence Day. This will be the second major ferry naming ceremony in Szczecin in 2026. In January, the city welcomed the vessel's sister ship, Jantar Unity, attracting considerable attention from residents and visitors.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore Bursztyn Unity from 12 to 14 November. Guided tours are scheduled for Thursday, 12 November, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Friday, 13 November, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Advance online reservations will be required on both days. On Saturday, 14 November, an open day will take place between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, allowing visitors to explore the ferry without prior registration. Tours will be organised in groups accompanied by guides, with further booking details to be announced by POLSCA Baltic Ferries.
Built at the Remontowa shipyard in Gdańsk, Bursztyn Unity is a modern passenger and vehicle ferry measuring almost 196 metres in length. It can accommodate approximately 400 passengers and features a hybrid propulsion system combining liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines with battery technology. Once it enters regular service, the ferry is expected to operate between Świnoujście in Poland and Ystad in Sweden.
The ferry's visit is also an excellent reason to plan an autumn city break in Szczecin. Wały Chrobrego is one of the city's best-known landmarks, and the arrival of such a large vessel will provide an impressive addition to its historic waterfront scenery. Visitors should be aware that traffic restrictions and limited access to the quayside are planned during the event, with the quay scheduled to close to the public from 10 November. Checking the latest official announcements before travelling is therefore recommended.
