Griffin Festival at the Castle this Saturday!

This Saturday, 26 September, the Castle Terraces will turn into a medieval stronghold, bringing to life the history of the symbol of Pomerania and the Griffin dynasty.

The programme will feature combat demonstrations by warriors and knights, an executioner’s station and the “Trial on the Battlefield” presentation, an armoury and historical kitchen, medieval games and traditional folk entertainment, as well as a blacksmith, herbalist and coin minter.

12:30 – “In the Footsteps of the Griffins” – presentation of medieval musical culture

13:30 – Combat demonstration by the warriors of Duke Wartislaw I of the Griffin dynasty (with historical commentary!)

14:15 – Indiana Wons tells stories about Szczecinka, the little Griffin

14:30 – “Trial on the Battlefield” – executioner’s presentation

15:15 – Combat demonstration by knights from the era of Duke Casimir V of the Griffin dynasty

16:00 – “Under the Wings of the Griffin” – performance

17:00 – Presentation of knights’ weaponry from the era of Duke Casimir V of the Griffin dynasty

17:30 – Indiana Wons tells stories about Szczecinka, the little Griffin

17:00 – LECTURE: “Why Did the Griffin Become the Coat of Arms of the Dukes of Pomerania?”
