Car-Free Day in Szczecin: Travel for Free on 22 September

On Tuesday, 22 September, it is worth leaving your car at home. To mark European Car-Free Day, Szczecin has prepared several options for those who choose to travel by tram, bus, train or bicycle. It is also a great opportunity for tourists to explore the city without having to worry about public transport tickets or finding a parking space.

Throughout Tuesday, public transport in Szczecin will be free of charge. From 00:01 until 23:59, passengers will be able to use all bus and tram lines without a ticket. Ticket validators and ticket machines on board vehicles will be disabled for the day. Free travel is available to everyone – both Szczecin residents and visitors to the city.

Bike_S, Szczecin’s public bike-sharing system, is also joining the initiative. Every Bike_S user can enjoy 60 minutes of cycling free of charge. The offer is valid from 10:00 PM on 21 September until 7:30 AM on 23 September and is also available to users with an active subscription.

European Car-Free Day is a perfect excuse to experience Szczecin from a slightly different perspective. Trams provide easy access to many of the main attractions in the city centre, while a bicycle gives you the freedom to travel further along the Oder River and discover some of Szczecin’s less obvious corners. On 22 September, you definitely won’t need four wheels to explore the city.
