Żagle 2026 begins in Szczecin: a weekend under sail
14.08.2026
Szczecin is setting sail again. On Friday, August 14, Żagle 2026 – Żeglarski Szczecin Zaprasza, one of the city's major summer events, gets underway. Until Sunday, August 16, Szczecin's waterfront will be filled with sailing ships, crews and visitors looking to experience the city's maritime atmosphere. Vessels moored on both sides of the Oder will open their decks to residents and tourists.
There is much more to the weekend than sailing ships. The programme includes concerts, the Jarmark pod Żaglami market, amusement parks, a children's zone, the City Summer Zone and plenty of food options. This makes the event a good choice for families, groups of friends and visitors spending a summer weekend in Szczecin.
One of Friday night's highlights will be a drone light show over Grodzka Island (Wyspa Grodzka). The show is scheduled for 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14. If weather conditions are unsuitable, it will be moved to Saturday. The Oder waterfront should therefore be one of the best places to spend the evening.
Visitors can also experience the sailing atmosphere from the water. Cruises aboard selected vessels will be available during the weekend. On-site ticket sales for Saturday's cruises and Sunday's cruise aboard “Stettin” begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Visit Szczecin stand next to the fountain at Wały Chrobrego. Tickets for the remaining Sunday cruises will go on sale at the same location on Saturday.
For anyone planning a weekend trip to Szczecin, this is an excellent opportunity to see the city at its most maritime. Tall ships along the Oder, Wały Chrobrego, Grodzka Island, live music and waterfront attractions create a setting that captures Szczecin's close relationship with the water. Żagle 2026 runs from August 14 to 16, with the latest programme and information about ships, cruises, transport and attractions available on the event's official website.
