The capital of Western Pomerania welcomes tourists! Located on the border between Poland and Germany, the city offers a sea of attractions for everyone. A one-day family trip? Or perhaps a weekend getaway with friends? Discover Szczecin with us!

Must-see attractions

What’s a visit to Szczecin without a stroll along the Chrobry Embankment (Wały Chrobrego)? This grand waterfront reveals itself as you enter the city via the Castle Route (Trasa Zamkowa). With a bit of luck, alongside the beautiful views, you’ll also catch the scent of chocolate – courtesy of the Chocolate Factory located on Łasztownia Island.

At the heart of the Chrobry Embankment, you’ll find the National Museum and the Contemporary Theater, whose performances are well known across Poland.

Fans of modern architecture will definitely appreciate the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Hall. This icy-looking structure contrasts with its surroundings, sparking conversation – but above all, inviting you inside. The two concert halls have been praised by even the most discerning music lovers. From the moment you enter the main hall, you’ll feel that music takes center stage. On the website tourszczecin.eu, you can check current tour dates of the philharmonic’s interior, which was awarded the Mies van der Rohe Prize – the most prestigious architectural award in Europe – in 2015.

If you're looking for something older and wrapped in legend, don't miss the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes. This historical residence of the Griffin dynasty ruled Western Pomerania from the 12th to the 17th century. At the castle, you can explore dungeons, permanent exhibitions, climb the Bell Tower (offering a breathtaking city view), or even attend a performance at Poland’s only opera located inside a castle.

Łasztownia – the new heart of the city

Today, especially in summer, all roads lead to Łasztownia. It’s here that the Maritime Science Centre has "docked" – a massive facility with a planetarium and observation deck.

The renovated boulevards have for years attracted both locals and tourists looking to relax by the Oder River. Stunning views of the city center (we recommend a sunset stroll along the Customs Wharf), countless restaurants, and numerous open-air events make Łasztownia impossible to ignore. Additionally, along the stretch of the Customs Wharf between the Long Bridge and the Castle Route, you can legally enjoy low-alcohol beverages – it’s the only area in the city where public drinking is permitted.

A bit further along, you’ll find Holiday Park Szczecin and the giant Wheel of Szczecin – a place where both kids and adults can get their adrenaline pumping.

If you think Szczecin has no beach, you’ve never been to Grodzka Island. Located right at the foot of the Chrobry Embankment, this urban beach may not offer swimming access, but it has several bars, deckchairs, a beach volleyball court, and a stage that hosts live performances by real stars in the evenings.

The Red Trail – explore step by step

Distinctive red lines painted on the sidewalks guide tourists from the Main Train Station (Dworzec Główny PKP) through the most important monuments and attractions in the city center. Thanks to this trail, even someone with a terrible sense of direction won’t get lost and will discover all the major sights along the way. Each location features an information board with descriptions in three languages.

Prefer to hear the stories instead? Download the free Explore Szczecin app – it will guide you through the city, and a narrator will automatically start talking when you approach an attraction.
