The excitement from last year’s final of The Tall Ships Races has not yet settled, and we can already start preparing for the next gathering of the Great Sailing Ships. Szczecin has officially been included in the route of The Tall Ships Races 2028.

This will be the fifth TSR final in our city. In 2028, the Tall Ships will sail across the Baltic Sea and participate in two races and one cruise of friendship. The ships will visit four ports: Kiel (Germany), Turku (Finland), Tallinn (Estonia), and Szczecin (Poland).

“The scenes from last year’s final are still vivid in our minds. We have just wrapped up the fourth final, and already we can prepare to welcome the ships again in 2028. This is fantastic news for the entire sailing community, as well as for all residents and tourists who have come to love Szczecin for its Tall Ships. I am pleased that our city has become part of such a large sailing family. Our finals are now known worldwide, and sailors remember their stay in Szczecin long after leaving the port. An intense period of preparations lies ahead. I believe that—just like in previous editions—we will meet expectations once again and prove that we deserve the title of a friendly port,” said Piotr Krzystek, Mayor of Szczecin.

In 2028, we can expect the Tall Ships in Szczecin in the second half of July. According to the plan, the race will begin on Thursday, June 22, and conclude on Tuesday, July 25. For the first time since 1987, the German port of Kiel will appear on the regatta route.

“We are delighted to collaborate with these experienced ports during The Tall Ships Races 2028. We are confident that, thanks to their previous experience in hosting large-scale international sailing events, they will offer unforgettable experiences for the fleet, crews, young participants, and visitors, while also showcasing everything their beautiful cities have to offer. We have excellent partnerships with all our host cities and look forward to strengthening them during the 2028 regatta edition,” said Vanessa Mori, Deputy Chief Executive and Commercial Director of Sail Training International.

The TSR 2028 route has been outlined in two race legs and one cruise of friendship and will proceed as follows:

  • Kiel (June 22 – June 25)
  • Turku (July 6 – July 9)
  • Tallinn (July 12 – July 15)
  • Szczecin (July 22 – July 25)

Szczecin has previously hosted The Tall Ships Races finals in the years: 2007, 2013, 2017, and 2024.
