Teresa Maria Hulboj
Teresa Maria Hulboj (1957–2019) – educator, speech therapist, member of the opposition in the times of the Polish People’s Republic.
She was born on 13 April 1957 in Szczecin. She completed the local 1st Secondary School and studied at the Teacher Education School in Szczecin. In 1980–81 she was one of the leaders of the Independent Student’s Union at her university. During Martial Law, she was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for her activities in the underground press. In the second half of the 1980s she co–created the Freedom and Peace Movement Magazine. In the 1990s she opened her own speech therapy centre in Szczecin, where she taught hearing impaired children to speak. For her social and professional activities she was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Medal of National Education. She died prematurely, on 5 February 2019, in her family village in the Śląskie Province, where she was buried.
