Bird Fountain

Ptasia Fontanna
Ptasia Fontanna

The fountain, with its characteristic geese flying up, was built in 1935 and is one of the attractions of the Rose Garden.

The fountain with bird sculptures by Kurt Schwerdtfeger is one of the most charming fountains in Szczecin.

The garden survived World War II intact and was a place of relaxation for Szczecin’s residents until the 1970s. However, due to the lack of funds for its maintenance, it began to gradually fall into ruin - together with the fountain.

In 2006–2007, thanks to the funds of the City of Szczecin, the garden was rebuilt in the style of the 1930s. The "Bird Fountain" was reconstructed from clinker and marble based on photos and engravings to recreate its pre-war look.

Its main elements are four concrete geese mounted on a pedestal - three of them are original, and the fourth one was created from scratch.
