Bukowa Forest

Puszcza Bukowa

The amazing location of the park, the beautiful flora and atmospheric paths create an unusual place which is the charming Bukowa Forest.

This unusual forest region is located at the south-eastern districts of Szczecin, on the eastern bank of the Oder River. The Bukowa Forest consists of about 1250 species of plants, including 53 species under complete protection. In the forest we can also find about 140 bird species, as well as several species of mammals and reptiles. Among the birds we can find a black stork, white-tailed eagle, lesser spotted eagle or red kite. There are also ca. 400 species of butterflies.

The Bukowe Hills are also a great place to relax or play with children. On the yellow tourist trail you will find Polana Widok, with a bonfire area. All this – combined with a panoramic view of the city and the birds singing in the background – makes his place especially charming.
While you’re in the Forest you can visit the remains of German bunkers and underground tunnels of the former chalk mine.

Around 200 km of hiking routes have been marked out in Knieja Bukowa, so there are plenty to choose from.
