Valley of the Seven Mills
Obermühle, Klappmühle, Bergmühle, Mutgebermühle, Schmetterlingsmühle, Kaisermühle and Kuckuksmühle, today known as Wyszyna, Łomot, Nagórnik, Zacisze, Uroczysko, Ustronie and Zazulin.
These are the names of mills that were mentioned as early as the 13th century, during the reign of Duke Barnim I. They made use of the swift current of the Osówka stream, and the nearby ponds were also named after them.
The mills ground grain into flour until the end of the 19th century, as traditional watermills at that time began to be replaced by steam-powered constructions. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the entire Valley of Seven Mills—meaning the valley of the Osówka—was transformed into a recreational area. Today, it is a popular place for jogging, cycling, and other outdoor activities; several recreational clearings have also been arranged in the area. The cross-border Polish-German tourist trail “Seven Mills – Gubałówka” now runs through the Valley of Seven Mills.
