How well do you know Szczecin? Beyond its main streets and landmarks, the city hides stories about former city gates, long-gone cinemas and fountains that once marked major technological milestones. These details create a fascinating narrative of Szczecin’s past.

A great way to explore it is the free audio guide available in the Explore Szczecin app. One of its most interesting routes is the so-called Red Trail, which leads visitors through the city’s most valuable historical sites. Along the way, you can learn which gate was once known as the Anklam Gate, where the Urania cinema used to stand and which fountain crowned Szczecin’s first water supply system.

The tour is best started at the main railway station, following the Municipal Tourist Route, although several shorter thematic routes are also available. The app works on both iOS and Android and allows visitors to explore Szczecin at their own pace – perfect for a weekend trip or a first visit to the city.
