Starting November 5, Netflix is streaming "Heweliusz," a new Polish mini-series recounting one of the most tragic maritime disasters in postwar Poland. Based on true events from the night of January 14, 1993, the series tells the story of the Jan Heweliusz ferry, which sank in the Baltic Sea, claiming 55 lives.

This five-episode production by the creators of "Rojst" and "High Water" stands out for its high production value and its filming locations — including Szczecin and Swinoujscie. For viewers, it's a chance to recognize familiar places: ports, streets, and seafront cityscapes.

"Heweliusz" is more than a story of disaster. It's a tale of investigation, truth-seeking, and remembrance. Blending drama, thriller, and investigative elements, it raises important questions about responsibility and institutional failure.
